Synopsis
A young director is set on making a documentary about Eleonora Chernobog, a human phenomenon famous for her telekinetic abilities. Jan Levi, a former psychiatrist who investigated the case in the early 1980s alongside his colleague Tatiana Faust, is the only man who can answer accurately all questions regarding Eleonora, her telekinesis, visions of the future, claircognizance, and mediumship. Will the director make the film or will she lose her mind when she starts seeing apparitions?
Reviews
The story is based on unraveling a mystery about an unusual girl Eleonora Chernobog, who has supernatural powers. The introduction to the story has a familiar pattern. Mona, the director, has been investigating the well-known mystery for a long time when finally, the traces lead her to Doctor Jan Levi, whom she visits in a mental institution along with her friends and colleagues. Initially, the doctor refuses to see her, but her persistence pays off and she ends up interviewing him. Through the narration of Dr. Levi, but also from several other characters' perspectives, the reader learns the details about Chernobog. The novel, however, does not frame them as some kind of final truth. The plots, the unexpected twists with their many characters, as well as the dynamic narration, put this political and psychological thriller, into which a love story is also woven, at a prominent place in the so-called genre literature.

This psychological thriller, written with mastery from the first to the last page, unfolds itself skillfully and unpretentiously, both forwards and backwards, until it finally unravels, unpredictable to the very end, as are all good examples in this genre. At the center of the plot is the young director Mona, who, together with her friends Pavel, Isaac, and Toby, manages to find her way into the nursing home where old doctor Jan Levi is located and obtain his permission to interview him on camera so that she could make a documentary about Eleonora (Nora) Chernobog, the mysterious girl with supernatural powers (telekinesis, claircognizance...). Nora's life is told in detail through the memories of Dr. Levi (presented in the third person, giving the impression of a film montage), his diary, but also through the memories of other characters, more notably Kristina, the former manager of the youth detention center where Nora resided in the days when she was examined by Doctor Levi and his then partner (romantic and professional), Doctor Tatiana. The novel is characterized not only by its valuable and unobtrusive social engagement (the treatment of residents in health institutions), but also by its awareness of gender and environmental issues.
