Biography
Zharko Kujundjiski, (Skopje, 1980) – novelist, essayist, storyteller, playwright, poet, film critic and translator. He graduated in 2003, and later received his master's degree at the Department of General and Comparative Literature at the "Blaze Koneski" Faculty of Philology.
He was a columnist in several daily newspapers, founder and editor of the electronic magazine "Reper" (www.reper.net.mk), founder of the first festival for European literature "Bookstar", copywriter in a marketing agency, as well as press coordinator of the "Manaki Brothers" Film Festival from Bitola. He is the owner of the publishing house "Antolog Books" from Skopje.
He is an author of 13 books. His works have been translated into English, Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, Polish, German, Turkish, Bulgarian, Italian, Ukrainian, Albanian and other languages. He is represented in a large number of anthologies of Macedonian prose and poetry. His short story "When the glasses are lost" is part of the renowned anthology The Best European Fiction 2013.
Awards received: "13 November", "11 March 1943", "Beli mugri", "Studentski zbor", as well as awards for script and acting at the Festival "Lica bez maski". The novel Sphinx of Anger was the Macedonian representative for the "Balkanika" award for 2021.
He is a member of the Macedonian writers society and the Macedonian PEN-center.
The novel Spectator is the first debut novel in contemporary Macedonian literature with seven editions and has so far been translated and published in Polish and English. The novel America has been translated into Italian.
